Warm Florida Winter
February 11, 2015 | David Cohn
Are you enjoying our warm Florida Winter? If you’re not, you should. Today was truly stunning! We field calls from northerners who are thinking of escaping to the warmth of a Florida Winter. We welcome the cold and huddled masses.
News Travels Slowly Sometimes
I don’t know what I’m not sure what they are seeing in their news up there, but we are not in a cold market down here. It is a healthy market. It is a seller’s market. Today. If you had come down with cash to buy your dream home in Delray Beach a few years ago, you could have gotten some great deals. Today, there are still great homes and great neighborhoods, but you’re not able to swoop in and pick ’em up cheap. If you know what you are looking for, and why you are looking, we will find it and negotiate the best deal possible for you.
This past week I read an interview with Andrew Barbar, the President of Florida Realtors, who described the current state of the South Florida Real Estate Market:
Q: What is the biggest misconception about the South Florida market?
A: I don’t think people realize how healthy our market is over the past three years. They’ve been hearing bad news for so long. In some cases, sellers don’t realize their home value is up compared with three years ago. And buyers still feel it’s a buyer’s market. In 2010, if you were a buyer, there was a lot to choose from and you could name your price. The reality is that today there is not as much to choose from and price is not as flexible.
